To become an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you need an Associate's degree of two years from an institution accredited by the state association for Occupational Therapy. The curriculum generally varies according to the institutions but in general subjects like psychology, biology, kinesiology and certain therapy courses form a part of the curriculum.

The training of an Occupational Therapy Assistant mostly occurs under the guidance of a licensed therapist who teach him/her the ropes of the profession. This training is of utmost importance for therapy assistants as this involves the most part of their job description.
